Align your resources with the people you are called to serve.
Church leaders face a practical stewardship question: how do our facilities, budgets, leadership, and weekly rhythms help people become disciples? National reporting can start the conversation. Your congregation’s records and community relationships should guide its decisions.
What the reporting establishes
CNN’s October 1 report describes an expert projection of 100,000 closures or repurposings over a decade. Its linked source, Rick Reinhard’s August 2024 article, attributes an earlier closure estimate to a former National Council of Churches research official. These estimates communicate potential scale; they do not determine the future of an individual church.

- Property and purpose. Examine how your space supports worship, formation, care, and neighborhood service. Compare realistic options for shared use, leasing, partnership, or relocation.
- Partnerships. Listen to schools, community organizations, and neighboring congregations before designing another program.
- Leadership capacity. Match responsibilities to available time, skills, and support. Develop others rather than leaving every task with the pastor.
- Discipleship in practice. Use Acts 2:42–47, Acts 6:1–7, James 1:27, and Matthew 25:35–40 as starting points for biblical reflection.
- Meaningful measures. Track spiritual formation, mentoring, service outcomes, volunteer capacity, financial resilience, and participation together.
A practical first month
Review your financial records and facility commitments. Listen to your leaders and neighbors. Identify one achievable improvement with a responsible leader and a review date. Invite your team to complete the check-in separately, then discuss where your perspectives differ.

Is Jesus Generation Movement a church?+
We are a parachurch movement serving alongside local churches. Our mission is to develop devoted followers of Jesus through discipleship, evangelism, and worship.
Are these resources only for pastors?+
No. Everyday believers and lay members can explore the Academy and ask about personal discipleship guidance. Church leaders can also use the assessment, research, toolkit, and coaching resources.
Do we have to be a large church?+
No minimum church size is required to explore these resources. Your consultation begins with your congregation’s needs and capacity.
What should we prepare for a consultation?+
Bring a short description of your church, the question you want to address, and your assessment summary if you completed it. Please do not email private member records or sensitive financial documents.
Does the assessment tell us whether our church is healthy?+
It helps you reflect on practices in five areas. It is a coaching conversation starter based on your answers, not a validated diagnosis or a verdict on your church.
How do booking and fees work?+
Send a consultation inquiry or submit a coaching request in My Learning. Reno will confirm the scope, format, availability, and any fees directly. Preparing an email does not reserve a time.
What happens to our assessment answers?+
Answers stay in this browser page and clear when it is reloaded or closed. Nothing is sent to a server by this assessment. Download your results to keep them, and choose whether to include them in an email to Reno.
