๐Ÿ“– Matthew 7:7

Teaching

Jesus provided a simple yet profound framework for persistent prayer in His teaching about asking, seeking, and knocking. The A.S.K. Model represents progressive levels of prayer intensity and faith, moving from simple request to determined pursuit to bold persistence.

The Three Levels

Ask โ€” The Prayer of Request: "Ask, and it will be given to you." Asking represents the fundamental level of prayer โ€” bringing our needs, desires, and concerns before God with simple faith.

Seek โ€” The Prayer of Pursuit: "Seek, and you will find." Seeking involves active pursuit of God's will and purposes. It requires more effort and investment than simple asking.

Knock โ€” The Prayer of Persistence: "Knock, and it will be opened to you." Knocking represents persistent, determined prayer that refuses to give up until receiving God's answer.

God's Promises

Matthew 7:8 provides the corresponding promises: "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened." God guarantees responses to each level of prayer.
