Discipleship · Session 6

The Great Commandment

Love God. Love People.

Core Discipleship Workbook · Converge Discipleship Study

Teaching Points

  • 1

Love is not a feeling — it is a decision followed by action. Jesus didn't say 'feel love' — He said 'love.'

  • 2

The Great Commandment has two inseparable dimensions: love for God (vertical) and love for people (horizontal).

  • 3

You cannot love God whom you've never seen if you don't love the person in front of you whom you have seen.

  • 4

Love is the evidence of discipleship. Jesus said the world will know we are His by our love.

  • 5

Love costs something. It always has. The cross is the ultimate proof.
