ETS ACADEMY · LESSON 2
The Gospel Explained
Teaching points
- The Gospel is not 'be good and God will accept you.' The Gospel is 'God accepts you through Christ, and that changes everything.'
- The problem: sin separates us from God. We cannot fix this ourselves.
- The solution: Jesus lived the life we couldn't live, died the death we deserved, and rose again to give us new life.
- The response: repent (turn from sin) and believe (trust Jesus). This is not a one-time event — it is a lifelong posture.
- The result: forgiveness, adoption, eternal life, the Holy Spirit, and a purpose bigger than yourself.
Read in Scripture
- Romans 3:23
- Romans 6:23
- Romans 5:8
- Romans 10:9
- Ephesians 2:8-9
Reflect
- Can you clearly explain the Gospel in your own words?
- What part of the Gospel message is most personal to you right now?
- Have you truly repented and believed — or are you still trying to earn it?
- How does the Gospel change the way you see yourself and others?
Put it into practice
- Memorize Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, and Romans 10:9.
- Write out the Gospel in 3 sentences or less.
- Share the Gospel with one person this week — even if it's just a conversation.
