ETS ACADEMY · LESSON 2
Vision & Strategy
Teaching points
- Vision is seeing what God wants to accomplish. Strategy is the plan to get there. Vision without strategy is dreaming. Strategy without vision is busywork.
- Vision must be clear, compelling, and communicable. If you can't write it on a napkin, it's too complicated.
- Strategy follows faith, not the other way around. Start with what God said, not what you can afford.
- The best strategies are simple, reproducible, and contextual. Copy-paste rarely works in ministry.
- Cast vision constantly. People move toward what they see and believe. If they don't see it, they won't move.
Read in Scripture
- Habakkuk 2:2-4
- Proverbs 29:18
- Nehemiah 2:17-18
- Matthew 28:18-20
- Isaiah 11:9
Reflect
- Can you clearly articulate your vision in 2 sentences or less?
- Is your vision bigger than your resources? If not, it might not be from God.
- How do you cast vision — and is it working?
- What is the one strategy that would move your mission forward most this year?
Put it into practice
- Write your vision in one sentence and test it: Can you explain it to anyone?
- Identify the three most important strategic priorities for the next 90 days.
- Share your vision with five key people and ask for honest feedback.
