ETS ACADEMY · LESSON 3
Multiplication
Teaching points
- Addition asks 'How many can we gather?' Multiplication asks 'How many can we send?'
- The early church multiplied because every believer was a reproducer. One person discipled three, who discipled three more.
- Multiplication requires releasing control. You cannot multiply what you hoard.
- The goal is not one great church — it is many healthy churches. One church cannot reach a city alone.
- Every leader should be asking: 'Who am I raising up to do what I do?' If no one, you are a bottleneck, not a multiplier.
Read in Scripture
- 2 Timothy 2:2
- Acts 19:10
- 1 Corinthians 3:6
- Matthew 28:19
- Colossians 1:6
Reflect
- Is your ministry growing by addition or multiplication? How can you tell?
- Who are you raising up to do what you do? Are they ready?
- What are you holding onto that needs to be released for multiplication?
- What would it take for your ministry to be reproduced by someone else?
Put it into practice
- Identify one person you can begin training to do your ministry role.
- Create a simple, reproducible version of one thing you do well.
- Release one responsibility to someone you are developing.
