ETS ACADEMY · LESSON 1
Leadership Character
Teaching points
- Character is not what you do when people are watching — it is what you do when no one is.
- Leadership without character is manipulation. Character without leadership is passive. You need both.
- The fruit of the Spirit is the leadership credential. Love, joy, peace, patience — these are not soft skills. They are power.
- Integrity is not perfection — it is consistency between what you say and what you do.
- The enemy targets leaders because of their influence. If you are leading, you are a target. Guard your heart.
Read in Scripture
- 1 Timothy 3:1-7
- Proverbs 10:9
- Galatians 5:22-23
- James 3:1
- 1 Peter 5:2-4
Reflect
- What area of character is God most actively developing in you right now?
- Is there a gap between your public leadership and your private life?
- Who speaks into your character — not just your strategy?
- How does the fruit of the Spirit function as your leadership credential?
Put it into practice
- Ask three people: 'What one area of character do you see growing in me? What one area needs work?'
- Establish one accountability relationship focused on character, not just tasks.
- Read 1 Timothy 3 and honestly assess which qualification you most need to develop.
