Church Planting
Teaching points
- Church planting is the most effective strategy for reaching the lost. Every new church reaches new people that existing churches don't.
- The church planting cycle: Foundations → Winning → Establishing → Training → Multiplying → Movement.
- Church planters must be called, equipped, and sent — not just willing. The calling must sustain you when the excitement fades.
- Research your context before you plant. Know the people, the culture, the needs. Context is everything.
- Planting is not a solo endeavor. You need a team, a sending church, and a prayer network.
Read in Scripture
- Acts 13:1-3
- Acts 16:1-40
- 1 Corinthians 3:10-11
- 2 Timothy 2:2
- Matthew 9:35-38
Reflect
- Is God calling you to plant a church? What evidence do you see?
- What phase of the church planting cycle are you in or preparing for?
- Do you have a team, a sending church, and a prayer network?
- What is the biggest challenge you anticipate in church planting, and how are you preparing for it?
Put it into practice
- Study the church planting cycle and identify where you are in the process.
- Connect with one experienced church planter for mentorship.
- Begin praying specifically for a people group or location God is laying on your heart.
