ETS ACADEMY · LESSON 2
The Word of God
Teaching points
- The Bible is not a textbook — it is a love letter. It was written to be obeyed, not just studied.
- Inductive Bible study: Observation (what does it say?), Interpretation (what does it mean?), Application (what do I do?).
- The Bible is living and active — it reads you as you read it. Approach it with humility and expectation.
- Scripture memory is not busywork — it is storing ammunition for spiritual battle.
- Meditation is not emptying the mind — it is filling the mind with God's Word and letting it saturate your thinking.
Read in Scripture
- Psalm 119:105
- Hebrews 4:12
- 2 Timothy 2:15
- Joshua 1:8
- Psalm 1:1-3
Reflect
- What is your current Bible reading habit? Is it producing transformation or just information?
- When was the last time a passage of Scripture changed the way you lived — not just the way you thought?
- How do you handle passages that are confusing or uncomfortable?
- What would it look like to memorize one verse a week?
Put it into practice
- Start a Bible reading plan — even one chapter a day.
- Practice the OIA method on one passage this week.
- Choose one verse to memorize and recite it daily.
