ETS ACADEMY · LESSON 3
The Power of Prayer
Teaching points
- Prayer is not informing God — it is aligning with God. He already knows. Prayer changes you.
- The ACTS model: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication. A framework, not a formula.
- Persistent prayer is not nagging God — it is positioning yourself to receive what He wants to give.
- Prayer and fasting together create spiritual breakthrough. Fasting focuses the body so the spirit can lead.
- Praying Scripture back to God is one of the most powerful forms of prayer.
Read in Scripture
- Philippians 4:6-7
- Matthew 6:5-15
- 1 Thessalonians 5:17
- James 5:16
- Luke 18:1-8
Reflect
- Is your prayer life more about talking at God or listening to God?
- When was the last time you prayed for something specific and saw God answer?
- Do you pray when you're in trouble, or do you pray as a way of life?
- What would change if you prayed Scripture instead of just your own words?
Put it into practice
- Try the ACTS model in your prayer time this week.
- Write out one prayer from Scripture and pray it daily.
- Identify one thing to fast from this week and dedicate that time to prayer.
