Spiritual Gifts
Teaching points
- Every believer has been given at least one spiritual gift. The question is not 'Do I have one?' but 'Am I using it?'
- Spiritual gifts are not for personal display — they are for building up the body of Christ.
- Gifts are confirmed through use and through the testimony of the community. Other people often see your gift before you do.
- The gifts work together — no single gift is complete on its own. The body needs every part.
- Gifts can be developed. They are not static — they grow as you serve and mature.
Read in Scripture
- 1 Corinthians 12:4-11
- Ephesians 4:11-13
- Romans 12:4-8
- 1 Peter 4:10-11
- 1 Corinthians 12:27
Reflect
- Have you identified your spiritual gifts? How did you discover them?
- How are you currently using your gifts to serve the body?
- What gift do you wish you had? Why? Is that desire itself a clue?
- How does the body suffer when you don't use your gift?
Put it into practice
- Take the spiritual gifts assessment if you haven't already.
- Serve in one area that aligns with your gifts this month.
- Ask two people who know you well: 'What gift do you see in me?'
