What Does Devoted Even Mean?
Teaching points
- The early church did not stumble into community by accident. They made a decision to remain committed to teaching, fellowship, communion, and prayer.
- The Greek word proskartereo carries the idea of being strong toward something, sticking with it, and holding on instead of treating it as a casual interest.
- Devotion is not merely a feeling. It is a decision we keep making, especially when faithfulness is inconvenient.
- Acts 2 connects devotion with growth, but the growth belongs to the Lord. Our responsibility is faithfulness to the right things.
